TXT Lingo
A new form to write popular things in English. What in our country we call Virtual Language; in U.S.A they call it text lingo “Txt lingo”.
Txt lingo is a term for the abbreviations and slang most commonly used because of the required brevity of mobile phone text messaging. Some similarities and overlaps in properties and style can be found within SMS language and Internet-based communication such as email and instant messaging.
This new writing form is usually used by young people aged from 10 to 26 years old, it’s used in the social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and others.
Txt lingo isn’t a language type that is possible to find on a tradictional dictionary… Let me give you some examples of it:
T + n + x = Thanks (contraction of “Thank you”)
M + 8 = M8 (Mate is such a friend…)
H + R + U = How are you (HRU was such as an acronym)
This is a very interesting way to write things in the social networks, but you can never use it when the virtual conversation is formal.
